At least 3 dead, 5 injured in shooting at Michigan State University

At least three people were killed and five others injured after a shooting at Michigan State University (MSU), police said.

The three people who died and the five who were injured in the shooting are students at Michigan State University. Acting Michigan State University Police Deputy Chief Chris Rozman said the names of the students will be released later Tuesday.

One suspect allegedly died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound after the shooting. Police identified him as 43-year-old Anthony Dwayne McRae.

“We are prepared to release the name of the person who committed these homicides,” Chris Rozman, MSU’s acting deputy chief of police and public safety, said Tuesday at a news conference.

“His first name is Anthony, his last name is McRae,” Rozman said. “Anthony Dwayne McRae, is a 43-year-old male.”

In addition, he added that a search warrant was executed “at a residence that was connected to the suspect.”

Rozman said they don’t know McRae’s motives, but said they are looking into his background.
