Luis Carlos Chacon is a global consultant in foresight, trends, and innovation for mass consumption companies. His career has taken him from the editorial offices of Vogue USA to the creation of his business consulting firm, BusinessCase

He was born in the Panama Canal and raised in different parts of the world due, including in Israel and across the United States to his father’s military work. This helps Luis Carlos bring a unique perspective to his business approach.

Luis Carlos’ connection to the media began at age 19, working on the editorial staff of Vogue USA and later becoming a columnist for Forbes Latin America. Although his career has been focused on marketing services, he has worked in a variety of areas, from public relations to creating his independent agency called Satellite.

For the first eight years, I worked in the public relations sector, first at Dattis managing joint projects with Lowe, their allied agency, then at J Walter Thompson where I developed and led the operation of reputation and relations business in the countries of the Andean region, and finally developing an independent agency called Satelite, which was formed with several of the talents that had worked with me in the industry“, recounts Luis Carlos.

The turning point came when he met Marian Salzman, an influential trendsetter. This connection led him to found Bautista, a trend research boutique focused on mass consumption. For six years, Luis Carlos developed projects for major consumer companies in Latin America and immersed himself in the study of foresight.

The next chapter of his career was the creation of BusinessCase, a consulting firm that merges foresight, and innovation and focuses on the global operations of major FMCG companies. During this process, he obtained two master’s degrees from Oxford University and published his first book, “STOP THE TRENDS: What We Did, Omitted and Must Do to Have a Prosperous Future,” published by Forbes Latin America.

Luis Carlos has worked with more than 100 of the world’s leading consumer companies, including Microsoft, ABInBev, Unilever, Mars Wrigley, Kellogg’s, Diageo, Netflix, LVMH, Levis, and Walmart just.

“I’ve also had the opportunity to travel the world exploring trends, lecturing, and working with clients. From Mumbai to San Francisco,” Luis Carlos adds.

Although Luis Carlos runs a consultancy focused on competitive strategy, his motivation goes beyond helping corporations as he also seeks to help create personal prosperity. 

Luis Carlos’ advice to those starting their own business is to be realistic, learn from mistakes, and understand that success is something you build daily. Part of what makes him stand out is his ability to remain relevant over time and being able to connect with diverse cultural groups.
